Strong Sixth Grade Reader

Dear Next Great Book,
I am a girl in sixth grade and I have a pretty high level of reading and I read a lot.  I am stuck!  I don't know what to read next.  I loved the Twilight series.  And I love the author Mary Downing Hahn.  I have also reading books like Percy Jackson, Flying Solo and So B It.  I hope you can help me.
Sincerely,
Reads All The Time

Hi Reads All The Time,
Have no fear - we have some excellent ideas for you!  We love many of the books you enjoy so we think we have come up with some great suggestions.

  • The Hunger Game: This is a great book about two teenagers who get chosen to fight to the death with other teenagers.  North America is divided into 12 districts and 1 boy and 1 girl is "chosen" by lottery to fight in this terrible battle.  It is a page turner - you will be dying to know what will happen.  PLUS, the movie version of this books is due out this month.  We just know you will LOVE it.
  • The Unwanteds: This is a great book.  Any of us who have read it just could not stop! It is about the land of Quill where they have a purge to decide which kids are "wanted". "necessary" and which are "unwanted".  Those who are unwanted are sent to a "death farm"  to meet their doom.  This is a story of a pair of twins - one is wanted the other is unwanted.  It is SO good.  We know you will love it.
  • True - Sort of: This book is written by the same author as So B It and it is just as good!  You will meet the most wonderful characters.  You will learn about growing up, finding strength and the meaning of real friendship.  We have all loved this one!!!
  • Wonder: OK, this book is SO good - you will love every second of it!  It is the story of Augie, a boy born with a terribly deformed face.  This is the story of his first year in a school (he has been home-schooled until now).  You will hear this story from eight different character's points of view.  It is the story of friendship, forgiveness and acceptance.  It is WONDERful.
We know you will enjoy at least some of these books.  They are each some for the best.  Happy Reading,
Next Great Book
